Since I started this blog a bit too late here are my favorite songs of 2007:

Kylie Minogue “2 Hearts”
I was so excited to finally hear new material from Kylie. While my first impression of this was more like “huh”, it grew on me with a few listens, and I now firmly believe that this was a solid release by Kylie. The rest of the album is incredible with future singles “Wow” and “In My Arms” so there’s sure to be a few KM tracks in my 2008 list too.    2. Robyn “With Every Heartbeat”I was so pleased to hear this song for the first time, and even more pleased when I read that it went to #1 in the UK! Its an awesome track that brought Robyn back into the spotlight outside of her native Sweden after years away. I’m looking forward to see how “Be Mine” does when its released in a few weeks as thats another favorite of mine. 3. FrankMusik “Confusion Girl”I fell inlove with this song the second i heard it. I thought the lyrics were clever, and the song had both an urgency and calm about it at the same time. I wonder what he will do next? Here is a piano-version of the song:     4. Feist “1,2,3,4″I was a big fan of Feist a few years ago, as “Mushaboom” and “Inside Out” were big hits here in Canada. I first heard “My Man My Moon” from this new album and liked it but it wasn’t until I heard this song and saw the video that it had the “Mushaboom” factor on me. Clever song, brilliant video and it looks like, thanks to the ipod nano commercial, Feist has gotten the attention she deserves internationally.  5. Patrick Wolf “The Magic Position”I first heard of Patrick through other music blogs earlier in 2007. At first I thought this song was a bit… odd. But it grew on me and I now see the genius that it is.  video to match.   6. Darren Hayes “On The Verge of Something Wonderful”I was waiting for Darren’s new album. The fact that he’s indie now only led to good things as he had complete creative control over his new album. I saw him at his packed concert in Toronto back in June 2007 and wasn’t disappointed. While he themes like “time travel” can be a bit weird at first, the music is all good. this song is definetly a fave.  7. Sophie Ellis Bextor “Catch You” Love it. Love the vid. That’s all there is to say.   8. Venke Knutson “Holiday” I forget where i heard about this song, but im glad i did. i’ve had this stuck in my head (Specifically the “yeah yeah yeah” part) for months! wish she would get more attention outside of Norway.  9. Girls Aloud “Call The Shots” Brilliant pop music. Why aren’t they released in Canada??   10. Sugababes “About You Now”again, another brilliant pop song. Im glad they are back, even if its in their 3rd version. Not sure about the yellow in the vid though….
